“Something’s in the Drink: Nashville’s Nightlife Has a Dark Side”

Look, I love a good night out as much as the next Broadway babe. Give me a rooftop bar, a country remix, and a tequila soda, and I’m the first one dancing like it’s Saturday night even if it’s Tuesday. But lately? Nashville’s nightlife has been feeling a little too wild—and not in the fun, flirty way.

People are getting their drinks drugged, y’all.

And not just in sketchy dive bars. We’re talking busy downtown spots, high-end cocktail lounges, even those trendy “hidden speakeasies” everyone brags about finding.

I’ve talked to girls—locals, tourists, bartenders—who’ve all seen the same thing: someone laughing one minute, glass in hand, and gone the next. Not “left early” gone. Scary gone.

It’s the kind of thing we all think won’t happen to us… until it does.

And let’s be real—Nashville is built on trust. You hand your drink to your friend while you dance. You flirt with the guy in the hat who swears he knows the drummer. You let the bartender surprise you. That’s the charm of this city. But now, that easy, Southern comfort is being poisoned—literally.

So here’s my plea, ladies:

Don’t leave your drink unattended. Don’t take anything from anyone unless you watched it poured. And if something feels off—if your head spins after half a White Claw or your legs go jelly after one shot—say something.

Tell a friend. Tell a bartender. Tell security. Nashville’s nightlife scene has too many good people to let the bad ones win.

And to the cowards slipping stuff into drinks—may your beer always be flat, your ex always be happy, and your nights out end with a cop car and a cold floor.

Stay safe, stay smart, and keep that lipstick on your glass where it belongs.
